PLYMOUTH — Plymouth Fire Rescue is proud to recognize and thank the Pemi-Baker Lions Club for its successful fundraising efforts, which resulted in the purchase and donation of two Automated External Defibrillators for the department.
Through the generosity of private donors and a community raffle held in partnership with The Last Chair Brewery, the Pemi-Baker Lions Club raised $5,225, enough funding to purchase two AEDs. These life-saving devices will enhance Plymouth Fire Rescue's ability to provide critical emergency medical care to residents and visitors throughout the community.
"On behalf of Plymouth Fire Rescue, we are extremely grateful for the dedication and generosity demonstrated by the Pemi-Baker Lions Club," Deputy Chief Dan Doucette said. "Their commitment to supporting public safety directly strengthens our ability to provide essential emergency services and improve patient outcomes during cardiac emergencies."
AEDs are an essential tool in the treatment of sudden cardiac arrest, where every minute without intervention decreases the chance of survival. Early recognition of cardiac arrest and rapid defibrillation significantly increase the likelihood of a positive outcome. The addition of these AEDs will help ensure responders have immediate access to the equipment needed when seconds matter most.
The Lions Club's efforts are continuing, with a goal of purchasing two additional AEDs for Plymouth Fire Rescue. Community members interested in supporting this initiative are encouraged to make donations directly to the Pemi Baker Lions Club. The Fire Department has a goal of ensuring that there is, at minimum, one AED in each fire department vehicle to enhance the chances of survivability for those suffering from a cardiac arrest, ensuring the best possible outcome.
Plymouth Fire Rescue extends its sincere appreciation to the Pemi-Baker Lions Club, The Last Chair Brewery, the many private donors, and all those who contributed to this fundraising effort. Their support has made a meaningful investment in the safety and well-being of the community and will help save lives for years to come.
