NH Electric Cooperative members elect incumbent, 2 new directors to board

PLYMOUTH — Members of New Hampshire Electric Cooperative voted to elect one incumbent and two new members to its board of directors. The winners of the recent board election were announced at the Co-op’s Annual Meeting of members on June 16, at the Owl’s Nest Resort in Thornton.

Six candidates ran to fill three seats on the 11-member board. William Darcy, of Benton, was re-elected, while Laurel Boivin, of Lee, and Carl Knowlton, of New Hampton, were also elected as directors. All were elected to three-year terms.

The Co-op is the second largest utility in New Hampshire and the only democratically controlled and member-owned utility in the state. As a member-owned company, the Co-op relies on the active participation of its members to govern and sustain the business. The 2026 board election saw a 21% increase in ballots cast over 2025, and more than 150 members attended the Annual Meeting.

Congresswoman Maggie Goodlander, representing New Hampshire’s 2nd Congressional District, delivered welcoming remarks for the Annual Meeting.

The Co-op thanks all members who voted or stood for election. Full results are for the three-year terms are

William Darcy: 3,845 votes

Carl Knowlton: 3,741 votes

Laurel Boivin: 3,556 votes

Brad Harkavy: 3,390 votes

Robert MacLeod: 3,251 votes

Tom Randell: 3,058 votes

The board at its organizational meeting following the Annual Meeting elected officers to one-year terms: Chair Alana Albee, Vice Chair William Darcy, Treasurer Jerry Stringham, Assistant Treasurer Peter Laufenberg; and Secretary Jeff Morrill.
