MOULTONBOROUGH — The Moultonborough Public Library will host Peter Crane for a presentation on the 19th-century pioneers who first explored Mount Washington at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 10.Â
Crane is a curator and overseer of Mount Washington Observatory's Gladys Brooks Memorial Library. His presentation will cover the 1870–71 winter expedition, and tell the story of the early weather pioneers who faced harsh winter conditions to help advance atmospheric science.
Many people are familiar with the Mount Washington Observatory, which has maintained a weather and research station atop the Northeast’s highest peak since 1932. Now approaching 100 years of service to the community, the Mount Washington Observatory continues its work in three main areas: a rigorous program of weather observations and environmental monitoring; basic and applied scientific research; and public education about weather, climate, and the mountain environment.
Registration is required for this program at moultonboroughlibrary.org.
