MEREDITH — In response to the strain this global hunger and nutrition crisis has on local communities, Lions around the world serve to improve health and wellbeing and empower communities to thrive. This year, Lions around the world will be participating in Hunger Week from Jan. 3-11 — doing what they can to help ease hunger insecurity. Over 200 countries will take on this task to assist where and how they can.

The Meredith Lions Club is doing their part with their monthly Food Drive. It will be Friday, Jan. 9 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the local Family Dollar. Members will have a list of items needed by the local food pantry and there is also a jug for monetary contributions.

The club will take any ideas and suggestions the public has to better serve the community needs. For more information contact Lion Marie Valliere at keylion03@gmail.com.
