LOUDON — The Loudon Historical Society and Museum received a grant from the New Hampshire Humanities to present a talk, "New England’s Colonial Meetinghouses and Their Impact on American Society," by Paul Wainwright, an author, photographer and historian.

The program will be offered on Wednesday, April 3, at 6:30 p.m., at the Loudon Community Building, "Charlie's Barn," at 29 South Village Road.

Wainwright has an interest in historical buildings. He has researched the history of many town meetinghouses throughout New Hampshire. Photographs of these buildings that still remain will be shared as well as the stories behind the building and the communities that built them. In many instances, these meetinghouses were dual purpose buildings serving as places where residents discussed town business and also held Sunday worship services.

Wainwright will examine how these buildings helped shape early New Hampshire communities.

This program is free and open to the public. The event is made possible by a grant from the NH Humanities. Learn more at nhhumanities.org.
