MEREDITH — The Interlakes Summer Theatre will continue its 17th season on July 17 at 7:30 p.m.

A tale of fame, fortune, and “all that jazz,” with one show stopping song after another, Chicago, is now the longest-running American musical in Broadway history. This six time Tony Award-winning musical is set amidst the razzle-dazzle decadence of the 1920s and tells the story of Roxie Hart, a housewife who maliciously murders her lover. Desperate to avoid conviction, she dupes the public, the media and her rival cellmate, Velma Kelly, by hiring Chicago’s slickest criminal lawyer to transform her malicious crime into a barrage of sensational headlines that entertain an entire city.

The production will be directed and choreographed by Gustavo Wons, with musical direction by Susie Jolink, set design by Katherine Wexler, costumes designed by Izzy McClelland, lighting designed by Connor White, sound designed Jared Lipkin, technical director Michael Byne, prop designed by Troy Tedeschi, Lily Landoch is the stage manager, Kristen Wettstein is the production manager, Ginny Fisher is the costume shop manager, Raeya Garcia is the assistant stage manager, Brandon Clague is the assistant lighting designer, and Savannah Richey is the costume shop technician.

Chicago will run from July 17-28, with matinees on both Thursdays. Next up will be

“Legally Blonde” July 31-Aug. 11, and Million Dollar Quartet Aug. 14-18.
