LACONIA ― Got Lunch! Laconia is gearing up for its 16th season. This summer lunch program delivers healthy food and literacy materials, partnering with Got Literacy, directly to the child’s home each week. This community-wide effort is for all students registered in the Laconia School District whether public, private or homeschooled. New registration is required each year, even if you participated previously.
Last summer, 500 children and 300 families benefited from the 10 week program of fresh vegetables, healthy food and literacy materials. Register online and get more information at gotlunchlaconia.com. If experiencing any issues or questions, contact Betsy at glldbmanager@gmail.com.
Applications are due by Monday, June 15, at noon to receive the first delivery on Monday, June 22. To be eligible for inclusion in the program, a child must be born before Oct. 1, 2022 (i.e. turn 4 by Sept. 30), live in Laconia (as deliveries will not be made outside of Laconia) and have children registered in the district. Families may continue to register at any time throughout the summer, but new registrations close one week before each delivery date to enable drop-off routes to be developed. Delivery will continue for 10 weeks throughout the summer ending Monday, Aug. 24.
Got Lunch! Laconia is in need of delivery drivers this summer to help deliver the food to registered families. Interested volunteers must have a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and provide their own vehicle. They must also be able to lift and carry bags up stairs and short distances. Looking for individuals or teams, who have positive energy and want to support their local community.
