MEREDITH  In our modern age, financial planners usually provide gender-neutral advice since everyone benefits from making the same prudent monetary decisions. However, statistically speaking, there are some factors (and therefore financial issues) which do affect women disproportionately.

In general, women tend to have longer life expectancies which means their retirement savings must last longer as well. If a woman's spouse or partner passes away first, she then faces living alone and the financial possibility of losing her partner's retirement income. This is also why each spouse needs to be equally aware of and involved in retirement planning.

Matthew Rigatti, a financial planner and senior vice president from Pointes North Wealth Management, will discuss these and related issues on Thursday, Feb. 19 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Function Room of the Meredith Public Library, 91 Main Street.

As with all of the Financial Planning sessions at the library, there will be time for Q&A after the session regarding the topic of the evening as well as other financial planning issues on attendees' minds.
