Drop-in repair clinic at Meredith Public Library

MEREDITH — Marilee's Mending & Repair Group will meet for its first afternoon session on Tuesday, Sept. 22 from 1 to 3 p.m. in the library's Maker Space. Attendees can come at any time during the session since it will be a "drop-in" format. Light refreshments, courtesy of the Friends of the Meredith Public Library, will be available.

Founder Marilee Lin describes the meetings as "a shared interest group and learning circle, focused on repairing our stuff and sharing our diverse 'fixing' skills." Since the autumn weather has recently descended upon the state, Marilee chose to focus on that fact for this month's topic.

"For many of us, as the days turn cooler and the sun sets earlier, we begin to take stock of household tasks — what needs cleaning, mending, or fixing as we anticipate spending more time indoors," Lin said. "If you have a 'mending pile' (a hem, button, or hole that needs to be sewn or patched) or simply want to learn how to hand-sew or use a sewing machine, come by and we'll give it a go. If you have something else you want to fix or have a repair skill to share, don't hesitate to join us."
