The summer tennis season is already upon us here in the Lakes Region with Advantage Kids offering their much-anticipated Free! Tennis + Yoga program for the 9th year in a row.

Children entering first through eighth grades are welcome to join certified tennis pros and registered yoga teachers for outdoor, public lessons at no charge. Advantage Kids offers these twice-weekly lessons in: Laconia, Tilton, Meredith, Moultonborough, Wolfeboro, and Gilford around the lake starting the last week of June and running through the first week of August.

Spring sessions are already in progress in Wolfeboro, Nashua, and the Mount Washington Valley, which will continue the summer season as well.

Historically, Advantage Kids ran free junior tennis lessons for kids in the Lakes Region. In the past nine years, they have expanded to serve kids throughout the state of New Hampshire all year long and added yoga to their program to strengthen what many call “mental toughness.”

“Yoga and tennis are a perfect match,” the leadership at Advantage Kids likes to say.

Co-Executive Director and certified yoga instructor Brittany Boles explains, “Tennis is a sport for life. Kids won’t outgrow it - there are plenty of ‘old timers’ out there with games just as strong as ever! And yoga is a lifestyle. They both require focus, balance, strength, and flexibility, and they both offer kids an opportunity to self-regulate, connect, and have fun.”

Many of these free summer programs fill up, as space is limited. Registration is now open at AdvantageKids.net or through some Parks & Recreation departments. All children are welcome to practice and play, no equipment or experience is necessary, and programs are first-come, first-served.
