MEREDITH — New Beginnings – Without Violence and Abuse awarded Tina Simpson the Margaret “Peg” Plumer Professional Service Award during its recent A Night of New Beginnings fundraising gala on Nov. 16. Simpson, MVSB vice president commercial loan officer, serves on the Board of Directors for New Beginnings and has been a volunteer for the nonprofit for several years.
“Tina was a wonderful choice as a recipient of the award, as she has been a tireless supporter of our mission here,” said Executive Director at New Beginnings Shauna Foster. “This award represents an ongoing reminder of the importance of community service and, in particular, honors Peg's efforts on behalf of those whose lives have been affected by domestic, sexual and stalking violence.”
Plumer was an original founder of New Beginnings and was well known in the community for her advocacy and volunteer work with a variety of organizations. She was also a longtime employee of MVSB.
“New Beginnings is a vitally important nonprofit that does a lot of work behind the scenes for those in need,” said Simpson. “Volunteering my time and helping to raise funds to support the organization and its efforts has been so personally fulfilling. I am proud to be a part of something that makes a difference in the community and gives local women and families a safe place to have a fresh start.”
