To The Daily Sun,
My friend and fellow writer John Harrigan is always glad to share his deep affection for New Hampshire’s House of Representatives — aka the General Court — and for those who run for office and serve in that august body.
Here in our small confederation of communities we have been so fortunate to have, not one but two “state reps,” Kevin Maes and Francesca Gothie Diggs , who serve with distinction, empathy and honor.
Though the exact towns they represent vary slightly they overlap in terms of the bigger towns. Francesca representing Grafton District 16 and Kevin District 6.
For me, what distinguishes them is that both see their mission as providing a voice to the people of our area without regard to party, town or social status.
Ninty-five percent of the decisions that our representatives make have no bearing on party affiliation or ideology. They are simply decisions requiring sound judgment and a sensitivity to local impact.
There are many good and honorable people serving this area but for the towns of Rumney, Thornton, Wentworth, Groton, Ellsworth, Orange, Canaan and Dorchester Kevin Maes and Francesca Gothie Diggs have served us well and deserve the honor of re-election to two more years.
I hope you will agree and vote to send them back again.
