To The Daily Sun,

Gov. Kelly Ayotte is focused on addressing the perceived threat that New Hampshire will become “Massed up,” all the while ignoring a more serious threat hiding in plain sight.

Twenty-five years ago, a group of people decided that they weren’t satisfied with the lack of success of the libertarian movement. They figured that if enough like-minded people moved to a small state they could take over the government and create for themselves a libertarian utopia. They chose New Hampshire. They weren’t totally without resources, the Koch brothers and other ultra conservative organizations were supportive of this grand experiment.

So they came and quietly began to infiltrate the Republican party. They ran for office. First local and then state, and began to take over. Believing the only purpose of the state is to protect life, liberty and property, they began to defund and eliminate programs they felt were intrusive. Fewer regulations, definitely fewer taxes and fewer programs to help those in need. They pushed costs down onto cities and towns knowing higher property taxes would lead to the defunding of government services, things like public schools, public works projects, nursing homes and recreation areas like local parks and public recreation areas like Gunstock. They proclaimed individual freedom but started campaigns to target LGBTQ people and immigrants, ban books and legislate what can and can’t be taught in our schools ― and Gov. Ayotte has gone along with them.

I have no desire to see New Hampshire “Massed up” but neither do I want to see New Hampshire turned into some libertarian utopia where anything (that they deem acceptable) goes. Let’s keep New Hampshire New Hampshire …vote blue.
