To The Daily Sun,

Once again, some of our Belknap County representatives are embarrassing us all by voting for the worst legislation and supporting the worst people. And this is in addition to favoring every measure calculated to destroy our local schools and our environment, and to make it harder and harder to vote.

A few years ago some extremist legislators in the New Hampshire House wanted to put secession on the ballot, to potentially have NH secede from the United States. Fortunately, the vote was 323 against it, with only 13 supporters. Of those 13, however, 4 were in Belknap County, so we had a wildly disproportionate number of Kool-Aid drinkers in our midst. Two are no longer in office, but the other two, Rep. Glen Aldrich and Rep. Paul Terry, are still state legislators.

In a more recent reprehensible action, four of our Belknap County delegation refused to censure Rep. Travis Corcoran (Weare) for suggesting a Holocaust-type solution to a Jewish representative’s invitation to a karaoke event. He referenced the “final solution," which we all know to be the mass extermination of Jews and others under Hitler. Corcoran’s bigotry and racism have been on display in other situations as well, such as suggesting the deportation of a representative of Filipino ancestry and encouraging the use of the n word.

Once again, Reps. Aldrich and Terry gave our county a black eye, this time siding with Corcoran. They were joined by Reps. Steven Bogert and Tom Ploszaj. And why were Russell Dumais, Travis Toner, Gary Trottier, and Peter Varney MIA from the vote?

Belknap County stood out here for having by far the highest percentage of antisemite apologists than any other county. We had 4 out of 11 votes, or over 1/3. The next highest was Rockingham County, with 1/5.

Let’s vote out those who bring shame to us all.
