To The Daily Sun,
Thank you for the article on Jan. 10, featuring the CASA volunteers and members of the Moultonborough Women's Club.
As a CASA volunteer of over 12 years, I know how important and meaningful the work that each CASA volunteer brings to the abused and neglected children in the New Hampshire court system.
I believe one statistic mentioned in the article needs further clarification. The number of CASA volunteers, cases and children served cited in the article appears to refer only to a small local segment of the organization. Statewide according to the CASA website, in 2025 there were 664 volunteers handling 938 cases involving 1,487 children. Those volunteers contributed 83,458 hours of their time and travelled 737,755 miles in the process.
Despite these impressive numbers, more CASA volunteers are needed as only 82% of court requests can be serviced by a CASA volunteers. Please consider becoming a CASA volunteer. In my experience, it has been one of the most meaningful and rewarding experiences of my life (and frustrating as well).
