To The Daily Sun,

Mr. Utiger’s assertion on Feb. 18 that two people were recently shot for interfering with law enforcement requires a reality grounded response. The assertion is uninformed, untrue, and unkind.

When police reasonably believe their lives are in danger, they have a right ― actually an obligation ― to defend their lives. It is unreasonable to assert otherwise. Sadly, in both instances the emotionally unstable individuals manipulated and trained, and perhaps paid, to illegally harass and threaten police officers created the circumstances in which the officers reasonably believed their lives were in danger. They responded appropriately, legally, and exactly as they had been trained. Their lives are how forever changed. Everyone has a right to their opinion. Yet respectfully, informed, balanced, and unbiased opinions better serve us all.
