Hostility and distrust of the news media by conservative contributors to this forum has become a hallmark and central to their political identity. They will dismiss a source that isn’t Fox News as politically biased and part of the Democratic Party; contemptuous of any news that doesn’t match their political beliefs and too trusting of their preferred news outlets. The conservative-right doesn’t mind being lied to as long as it reinforces their ideologies.
While denigrating the major networks, conservative media companies that promoted false claims (the Big Lie) four years ago, are filing for bankruptcy, issuing apologies or settling lawsuits. They were purveyors of misinformation (lies) and amplified false claims as Donald Trump undermined the results of the 2020 election and have found themselves on the losing end of legal challenges and facing new ones.
Numerous letters to this forum recently are nothing more than extensions of the conservative news outlets — they have become the very propagandists they rail against.
