To The Daily Sun,

I live at 14 Sagamore Road in Gilford. There are many days that the mail never shows up here.

We had an awesome mail carrier for over 20 years. Her name was Betty. When she worked, we had mail in Gilford. No problem. We had awesome mail. When she retired, the mail in Gilford went all to hell. Now we get mail from one person's house to another person's house. We never know if we're going to get our own mail.

I monitor my mail and get an email of what I'm supposed to get every day, but the reason why I'm writing is because I was appalled. I was sitting out in my yard and I had a letter in my mailbox waiting to go out to my granddaughter, down in South Carolina. It was very important. It was a check for her birthday. She is 18 years old and it is an important birthday. I am very proud of her. She is going to college to be a vet tech. I had the flag up as one is supposed to. It was all set. I watched the mail lady come down the hill, approach, and drive right by without stopping. This was Wednesday. Thursday came, no mail lady. So I had to drive to Laconia to my girlfriend's house to put my letter in the mail because I knew if I went to the post office, I would lose my top because I tried calling all day to talk to the post office and nobody could answer the phone there, and readers wonder why they want to stop the U.S. post office.

An American taxpayer that sees why the post office is failing.
