Gregg Hough: We need a stronger, more transparent, prosperous Laconia

My name is Gregg Hough, and I am running for Laconia City Council Ward 2 because it’s time for leadership that listens, prioritizes taxpayers, residents, and delivers real solutions. Laconia’s future depends on strong fiscal management, smart growth, and an unwavering commitment to transparency. As this is my last letter before the primary in Ward 2 this coming Tuesday, Sept. 9, I’d like to recap some of my positions.

Fiscal responsibility. I am committed to protecting taxpayers by scrutinizing city spending, addressing unnecessary budget expenses, and ensuring every dollar is used effectively. With rising property taxes putting pressure on families and seniors, the city council must take a proactive approach to control costs and make responsible financial decisions.

Housing and homelessness. I support practical, community-driven solutions to homelessness. I believe we can balance compassion with accountability, utilizing treatment, rehabilitation, and job training programs, without placing an additional burden on Laconia taxpayers. I will advocate for clear oversight on any city-funded initiatives and beware of any too good to be true blue-sky entanglements.

Economic development. To strengthen Laconia’s future, I will work to attract investment, support local businesses, and ensure development projects align with residents’ needs while preserving our community’s character.

Transparency and accountability. I can’t stress enough; residents deserve a council that operates openly. I will demand better communication, accurate reporting from city committees, and meaningful citizen input on key decisions affecting Ward 2 and the entire city.

On Tuesday, Sept. 9, vote Gregg Hough for Laconia City Council Ward 2. Together, we can create a stronger, more transparent, and more prosperous Laconia, a place we can truly be proud to call home.
