To The Daily Sun,
I’m trying to stay healthy and happy but it gets harder and harder as a senior citizen. I recently received my Eversource bill and was blown away. I have solar panels which makes my being blown away extremely aggravating. The delivery charge is almost 30% higher than the total amount of electricity delivered. You read it correctly — the cost I paid for getting the electricity was more than the cost of the electricity. I called Eversource to make sure this was actually true and not a mistake or miscalculation. After a long discussion with the representative, it boils down to an increase in fees to ensure up-to-date service was passed, not on increases in the cost of power. Most of the fees were for New Hampshire not federal fees. Why would NH let Eversource take the electricity I generate into their grid at no reimbursement to me (not buying my power) and then charge me a delivery fee when I need a small amount of their power? Our representatives are not watching out for the residents because they let Eversource do this gross injustice. Taking power from a solar client uses the same wire circuits as it does to deliver it. Let’s treat solar customers fairly — either pay us your rate per kilowatt hour for our electricity or stop charging us to draw back from the grid. It was a shock receiving the last paying almost 30% more to deliver what electricity I used. My friends couldn’t believe it.
