To The Daily Sun,

The recent rise in global oil prices has brought up arguments over energy security and economic stability. As of December 2024, oil prices have reached a five-year high, according to cnn.com. This has led to higher fuel costs, affecting transportation and manufacturing. This leads to higher prices for things like food and department store products. Something that would help lower the prices is finding reusable resources, like solar energy and wind energy and tapping in to known resources like oil. We can use oil from our own country instead of paying other countries for oil. The United States produces 14.8 million barrels of oil every day, and the U.S. imports 37% of its oil consumption (7.3 million barrels per day), we also have approximately 35 billion barrels in oil reserves, according to worldometer website. So why do we need to import and why don't we sell more of our oil to other countries?
I believe that we can find a balance in using both oil and renewable energy like solar and wind to help bring economic stability to the United States.
