To The Daily Sun,

I am writing to give an update on a book that I have requested be removed from the Moultonborough Academy library. The book is titled “Tricks” by Ellen Hopkins.

This book contains many pages of sexual explicit pornographic content involving minors. The impact of pornography on young adults is harmful in many ways.

The American College of Pediatrics has documented many negative emotional, psychological, sociological and physical health outcomes that result from consumption of pornography. These include increased rates of depression, anxiety, sexual promiscuity, increased rate of teen pregnancy, and sex trafficking to name a few. The science behind these findings is also documented by the National Institute of Health.

Why are we allowing these books in our school if it has been proven to be harmful?

Let’s do a better job of protecting our children and eliminate these books from our school library.
