FRANKLIN — Firefighters responded to a house fire on Sunday morning. There were no injuries.
The City of Franklin Fire Department was dispatched to a reported building fire at 14 Timberland Drive just before 11 a.m. on May 4, Chief Michael Foss wrote in a news release.
Tilton-Northfield Fire & EMS, as well as the Hill and Bristol fire departments were sent as automatic aid to Franklin. As crews from Franklin responded to the scene, Lakes Region Mutual Fire Aid Association advised of a possible fire in a bedroom in the home.
A Franklin Fire Department captain immediately called for additional companies to respond, then upgraded the call for further reinforcements once on the scene.
Hill Fire was first to arrive at the scene at 10:55 a.m., and firefighters reported heavy smoke inside the home. Crews entered the house carrying hose lines and worked to extinguish the fire, which they found primarily on the second floor. They conducted a search for occupants, but there weren’t any in need of assistance.
The majority of the fire was brought under control at 11:16 a.m., Foss wrote.
One of the occupants of the home was medically evaluated and released. There were no injuries to firefighters and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
“Thank you to all of our mutual aid partners for their hard work,” Foss wrote. “Franklin was assisted on scene by Bristol Fire Department, Tilton-Northfield Fire & EMS, Sanbornton Fire Department, Hill Fire Department, New Hampton Fire Department, Andover Fire Department and Lakes Region Mutual Fire Aid Association. Two additional calls were received and were handled by the Gilmanton Fire Department and Penacook Rescue Squad while covering the Franklin Fire Station.”
Foss in the news release also reminded the broader community of the importance of leaving any building when smoke or fire alarms are activated, and encouraged families to develop a meeting place in the event one is needed.
