LACONIA — Belmont Selectman Jon Pike and two others were accused of misdemeanor assault in arrest warrants issued Friday for an altercation that took place in the Dunkin’ Donuts on South Main Street after a road rage incident on April 19.

Pike, 70; Alan Young, 60, of Belmont, and David Hodges, 52, of Salisbury, are facing Class A misdemeanors, Police Chief Matt Canfield said.

Pike and Young were arrested Friday and released on their own recognizance. Hodges was being sought.

Hodges suffered a cut head in the incident. Canfield said the three are accused of assaulting Adam Vogler, 31, of Laconia, who refused medical treatment at the scene.

Vogler was driving a pickup truck that allegedly sped into the breakdown lane on New Hampshire Route 106 in Belmont and passed several vehicles.

Belmont police were notified and Laconia police were alerted to be on the lookout for the vehicle. A call then came in about a fight at the Dunkin’ Donuts related to people upset with a driver over an illegal passing maneuver.

Two female employees broke up the fight before police arrived. A worker at the store said it involved a younger man and two older men. She said the older men blocked the younger man’s vehicle and a fight began that moved into the foyer.

Canfield said police reviewed a surveillance video and interviewed witnesses.

The three men are facing Class A misdemeanors, which carry a possible jail sentence of less than one year and a fine of up to $2,000.

Pike has declined to comment and others involved did not return calls for comment.

Vogler is facing a traffic violation.
