HOLDERNESS — State Police are investigating a rollover accident on Interstate 93 Friday night, which sent the driver to the hospital with minor injuries.
Fire Chief Jeremy Bonan said crews responded to a report of a vehicle driving north which lost control. Police dispatch said the call came in at about 9:38 p.m. on May 29, at mile marker 79.8.
“The vehicle rolled over,” Bonan said. “He was coming north, rolled it over and into the median. It was literally in the middle.”
According to State Police spokesperson Tyler Dumont, Troop F troopers responded to the single-car crash just after 9:30 p.m. on Friday. Initial reports said it was a rollover crash where someone was potentially trapped in their car in the median along Interstate 93 in Holderness, but when troopers arrived, they found the lone occupant walking into the back of an ambulance.
The ambulance was from the Plymouth Fire Department, which Bonan said assists his department with calls when needed. Deputy Chief Dan Doucette of Plymouth Fire was not at the scene, but based on reports, he said it appears the driver sustained minor injuries with “no advanced interventions needed.”
Bonan said it was raining heavily at the time of the accident, and it was his guess the crash was due to weather, but the official cause is up to investigators.
“It was raining pretty hard at that point,” Bonan said.
Chief Erik DiFilippe said Holderness Police assisted with traffic control, but the investigation was conducted by State Police.
“All factors of the crash remain under investigation at this time,” Dumont wrote in an email on Monday.
