BELMONT — The selectboard will explore generating new tax revenue through implementing a solar pilot project on Jamestown Road at its meeting 10 a.m. on Wednesday, at the Belmont Mill.
Kearsarge Energy will present background information on their successful pilot programs around New England. Currently, 25 programs exist in New Hampshire, including a project approved by Belknap County commissioners. According to their website, “Kearsarge Energy is a full-service renewable energy developer committed to building a more sustainable world.”
Implementing of a solar project of this caliber could result in thousands of dollars in energy cost savings for the town, as well as an increase in tax revenue.
The tax lot, 232-007 on Belmont’s tax map, is owned by Daniel McDonald, of Pembroke, Massachusetts. It is zoned for rural use at more than 90 acres.
Other business includes a discussion about a Dutile Road property and consideration of its donation to the town. Similarly, a review of town-owned properties will also be conducted during the meeting.
Finally, the Belmont Police Department will introduce its newest officer, Seth Jalbert.
