LACONIA — A local transient was sentenced to time in the House of Correction after pleading guilty to stealing a cell phone at the Laconia Public Library.

Christopher M. Blodgett, 45, no fixed address, pleaded guilty in Belknap Superior Court Wednesday to a charge of theft by unauthorized taking.

Judge Tina Nadeau sentenced Blodgett to 12 months in the Belknap County Corrections facility with three months suspended on condition of 3 years good behavior. Blodgett received credit for the time he had already spent in confinement prior to the plea-and-sentencing hearing.

Blodgett had been previously convicted of a similar crime, according to court records.

According to a sworn police affidavit, Blodgett’s stole a cell phone belonging to a library patron who had left a table in a reading room to go use the toilet.
