Poking fun at "Florida Man" articles has become somewhat of a national past-time. Did it start with the hanging chads? Regardless, a Florida left many chuckling last week, when it was reported that two young women dressed up as little old ladies to get their Covid vaccines. For many, it brought back memories of dressing up in granny cloths as a child, but in reality it was a serious situation. The story was vague in backstory, so there are so many things the readers don't know. Are these woman so terrified of Covid that all reasoning and flew right out of their brains? Were they being selfish because they want to go clubbing? Are they grocery store workers who have had to interface with EVERYONE throughout this entire pandemic? We just don't know and so we chuckle at the site of two young women playing dress up.
I find it interesting that about the the third of the people I talk to say they are NOT getting the vaccine. Full disclosure here: I'm a RINO so I do run in some of those circles. I even know people who actually believe Bill Gates is planting a microchip during it (or was that during the test, I can't keep up). In my "group" I would say a third are hard no. A third are maybe and a third are absolutely.
Even though I'm in the absolutely category, I'm not in the "dress up like a little old lady" stage of fear. I'm grateful that my husband has been able to get his first shot. I think our state is doing great considering what kind of unprecedented things have been dumped on us. But, mostly I think we need to cut each other some slack.
So, I'm not going to make fun of the Florida ladies. I don't know what made them do that. I think it was wrong, and I know people do things that are wrong out of desperation every day. Let's take care of each other and stay safe through all of this and then we can get back to our daily battles.
And by the way, the Governor is elected to serve all of the people regardless of party and the same goes for your state reps. You should be able to get constituent services from any of your representatives and people in office just to advance a single agenda should be voted out next round.
