Margaret Pickering, 98, of Ashland and Meredith, passed away peacefully on Nov. 29, at Belknap County Nursing Home.
She was the daughter of Frank and Blanche (Hickey) Shaw.
Margaret graduated from Meredith High School. Then, she worked for several years at Annalee Dolls. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Meredith, and its widow group, along with being a lifetime member of the Wicwas Lake Grange. She also volunteered for 23 years at the Belknap Nursing Home.
Margaret was an avid reader, loved to do Sunday’s edition of the crossword puzzles, and playing Scrabble with friends.
Margaret was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Clarence, her siblings, Frank, Edwin, and Leona (Boynton) Shaw. Also, her foster son Roger Sorell, and infant great-grandson, Mark Blake.
Margaret is survived by her daughters, Marianne and her husband Richard Albert of Milford, Ramona and her husband Jim Blake and daughter-in-law Niki Sorell of Meredith.
She also leaves behind seven grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Her life was a testament of kindness, love, and faith. She will be missed by many.
Services will be private for the family.
