WOLFEBORO — Makers Mill will be one nonprofit fundraising during NH Gives, which runs from 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 11 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 12. The organization’s primarily goal is to raise funds to support phase two of an ongoing construction project.
Phase Two focuses on improved safety, technology upgrades, and accessibility improvements to meet the growing demand for vocational training and career development opportunities.
“This first year’s success has also meant that we’ve come up against the limitations of our facility faster than we thought, meaning we need to finish the renovation job we started; it’s time for phase two,” said Josh Arnold.
Safety improvements: The fire egress from the second floor passes a poorly constructed deck that needs to be replaced. Replacing this second-floor deck is the most pressing safety improvement for phase two construction.
Technology upgrades: Makers Mill inherited outdated computers that cannot handle the software needed for meaningful workforce training. Furthermore, the Mill lacks a dedicated fabrication lab with the proper fume ventilation and an adequate classroom for training. Phase two includes the construction of a dedicated digital design and fabrication lab for training on topics like CAD design, automation, animation, coding, and more.
Accessibility improvements: A large focus of phase two is the site work outside the building to improve accessibility and parking. These improvements will align the Mill with its accessibility values and are also required by the local code.
With the goal of raising $25,000 during the 24-hour donation drive, Makers Mill can break ground on phase two this summer and complete it by the end of this year. Achieving this goal means that Makers Mill can meet the growing demand and unlock its full potential for vocational training and career-building opportunities.
