MOULTONBOROUGH — The Moultonborough Public Library will host author  Linda Magoon on Tuesday, May 13, at 6 p.m., as she presents her experience of re-discovery through hiking.

Magoon is an author, environmentalist and outdoor enthusiast. After ending a difficult marriage, she set a goal to climb all 48 of New Hampshire’s 4,000 foot peaks. In doing so, she rekindled her love of nature and reclaimed her sense of autonomy. Magoon then went on to write and publish a book, “Live Free and Hike: Finding Grace on 48 Summits,” recounting her experience.

In her presentation, Magoon will discuss her book and the true, gritty story behind it. She found peace in hiking, and now she encourages others to reap the mental and physical benefits of exploring the outdoors. As a member of the Appalachian Mountain Club and the NH Writers’ Project, she combines her passion for nature with an eloquence that constructs a compelling story.

Magoon’s book is available for checkout at the Moultonborough Public Library. To register, visit moultonboroughlibrary.org.
