Lakes Region Community Developers to fundraise for eviction prevention program during NH Gives

LACONIA – Lakes Region Community Developers will participate in NH Gives June 11-12 with the goal of raising $10,000 for its Eviction Prevention Program, which combines targeted case management with direct financial assistance to help families who are experiencing a crisis to avoid eviction and get back on their feet again.

Melcher & Prescott Insurance, Bank of New Hampshire, and Franklin Savings Bank have each pledged a dollar-for-dollar match up to $1,000 for donations to LRCD’s campaign.

NH Gives, an initiative of the NH Center for Nonprofits, is a statewide 24-hour online fundraising event that is designed to build community, connect donors to local nonprofits and generate excitement about the nonprofit sector.

LRCD provides affordable housing to 750 people of low income in the NH Lakes Region each year. About 55% of LRCD’s tenants have income below 30% of the median income ($24,200 for a two-person household; $30,200 for a family of four). These households are financially vulnerable because they do not have any savings. One crisis such as an illness or unexpected car repair is like a wrecking ball to their budget, leaving them unable to cover basic expenses such as rent, utilities, and food.

In 2023, LRCD provided eviction prevention services to 277 households, and issued 138 payments totaling $36,000 on behalf of 62 of the renters engaged with the program. All of the renters who engaged with the program successfully navigated through their crisis and maintained their housing.
