LACONIA — The Laconia Kiwanis Club will host its annual Bike 'n' Board Safety Day on Saturday, May 9, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Laconia Skateboard Park located at Opechee Park.
The free event offers children an opportunity to learn safe riding skills for bikes, scooters, and skateboards.
New this year, certified instructors from GO SKATE will offer two one-hour skateboard skills and safety lessons at 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., 12 students per each hour, training a total of 24 students. Students are required to wear safety gear and bring their own skateboards. A limited number of skateboards and protective equipment will be available for those who need the equipment.
Additional activities include helmets and helmet fittings and bike registrations by the Laconia Police Department, bike inspections by MC Cycle, a bike and scooter riding skills course, prize giveaways and light refreshments.

The event is supported by local partners and volunteers, including the Laconia Police and Fire Departments, MC Cycle, Laconia Rod & Gun Club, Hearts & Hands Thrift Store, and the Laconia High School Key Club.
