GILFORD — The Gunstock Freestyle Individual Start cross-country ski race took place at the Gunstock Nordic Ski trails and served as a New England Nordic Ski Association Zak Cup event. Twenty-six racers participated, ranging in age from 10 to 78.  Skiers competed on Gunstock terrain over a well-prepared 1.67 km loop, completing six laps for the 10K race.Â
In the women’s 10K race, Maria Tilley (Gunstock Nordic Association) earned first place, followed by Eliza Deery (Gunstock Nordic Association) in second and Lillian Naimie in third. The men’s race was won by Bill Donahue (Gunstock Nordic Association), with Tyson Weems (3Levels.org) finishing second and Dennis Claire (Gunstock Nordic Association) taking third.
Junior racing was also well represented. In the 5K U16 races, Ethan Cathey (Gunstock Nordic Association) won the boys’ race, and Tess Eckhardt (Holderness Nordic Club) won the girls’ race.  In the 3K BKL races, Luc Gudreau (Northfield Mount Hermon), Hadley Bassett (Holderness Nordic), and Willey Blachly (Andover Outing Club) all posted strong finishes.
