LACONIA — A Belknap County Superior Court Grand Jury has indicted five people on forgery charges.

Alexander V. Fortin, 28, of 32 West High St., in Franklin, was indicted for allegedly passing a forged $1,000 check.

Sheena Franklin, 33, of 92 John Smith Road, in Bridgewater, was indicted on a charge of passing a counterfeit check for $365.40.

Rene Caraballo, 52, of 131 Main St., in Plymouth, was indicted on a charge of signing her name to someone else's tax refund check in the amount of $732.

Frank Berry, 63, of 515 Salisbury Road, in Franklin, was indicted on a charge of passing a forged check for $509.

David J. Brown, 60, of 664 Main St., Apt. 2, in Laconia, was indicted on a charge of passing a counterfeit, $100 bill.

An indictment is not a finding of guilt, but an independent jury’s decision, after hearing from police, that sufficient evidence exists to warrant a court trial.

The grand jury also indicted four people for theft.

Thomas Dufield Jr., 49, of 11 Merrimac St., in Laconia, was indicted on a charge of theft by unauthorized taking for allegedly stealing two cans of beer from a local grocery store. Duffield also was indicted on a charge of receiving stolen property for allegedly receiving, retaining or disposing of another person's checkbooks. Duffield has twice before been convicted of theft of property or services, according to one of the indictments.

Aime Greenwood, 38, of 137 Gilford Ave., in Laconia, was indicted on a charge of theft by unauthorized taking for allegedly absconding with between $1,000 and $1,500 which belonged to a local business.

Adam Jenna, 37, of 382 Middle Route, in Gilmanton, was indicted on a charge of theft of unauthorized taking for allegedly stealing in excess of $1,500 worth of household and personal items in Alton. Jenna was also indicted on a charge of burglary for allegedly breaking into the Alton dwelling.

Kevin Johnson, 26, of 8 Flintlock Circle, in Gilmanton, was indicted on a charge of theft by unauthorized taking for allegedly stealing $3,318 from the drop safe at a store in Tilton. Johnson was also indicted on a charge of burglary for entering the store after it was had closed in order to commit the alleged theft.

Joseph Callahan, 35, of 24 Arlene Drive, Unit B, in Belmont, was indicted on a charge of receiving stolen property for allegedly receiving, retaining and/or disposing of another person's personal items worth more than $1,500.

The grand jury indicted the following two people for burglary.

Jacob Cohen, 20, of 66 Langdon St., in Plymouth, and Ian M. Decato, 21, of 1164 Main St., in Barnstead, were indicted for allegedly breaking into a dwelling in Center Harbor.

The grand jury indicted the following four people for driving after being certified as habitual offenders: Richard L. Archambeault Jr., 49, of 60 Rowe Court, No. 6, in Laconia; Keith Churchill, 61, of 13 Pleasant St., No. 14, in Laconia; Marcia Foss, 45, of 238 North Main St., in Concord; and Paul W. Hewitt, 55, of 32 Appleton St., in Laconia.
