LACONIA —FranksArt will be offering classes at the Belknap Mill this summer for instruction in three classes that will expand the artists perception and education in three focus areas. All classes run a total of six weeks and are offered during two times during the day: 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. or 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Each Tuesday from July 1 through August 5, students will work on 2D to 3D - Exploring the dimensions of art. This six week art class intended for middle and high school students (grades 6-12) and adults. Students will make a culturally significant two dimensional art piece the first three weeks. The last half of the class will be focused on experimenting with medium, texture and subject while making a three dimensional art work.
On Wednesday's from July 2 through August 6 students will work with Chigiri-e as they learn how to create Japanese Torn Paper Art during the program entitled Painting with Paper. Students will learn the historical and cultural significance of the Japanese art of Chigiri-e as they practice the rewarding techniques of this hands-on art form.
Each Thursday from July 3 through August 2 students will explore self-expression through art making. This Is Me art class will provide opportunities for students to explore personal traits and characteristics as they discover methods to represent themselves through the creation of art projects.
