CENTER HARBOR — It was a breezy, pleasant day for the opening of the 2018 Waukewan Golf Club Ladies League season, and with the weather cooperating, more than 40 women enjoyed a team scramble. The ladies teed off on the front nine which was in great shape.
The format was a Best Ball Scramble and the teams were set up with ABCD handicap players. Two teams tied with a 36. In a card playoff on hole no. 6, the team of Gerry McGillicuddy, Brenda Trudeau and Kathy Boselli took first place honors. In second place was the team of Val Langbehn, Donna Lemay and Fran Howe. Great playing, gals!
Closest to the pin were our prize holes. Denise Doyle landed her ball 8’9” from the pin on hole no. 3 and Jean Selig put her ball 24” from the pin on hole no. 7. Both ladies enjoyed a trip to the prize table.
Hole no. 3 proved to be a welcoming one for the ladies. Ellen Vail chipped in and Donna Lemay, Val Langbehn, Denise Doyle and Leslie Robinson all had birdies. Although it was a scramble, all of the ladies made their birdies, as all of their shots were in play for the entire hole. Let’s hope for many more birdies this season! Well done, ladies!
As is our tradition, our opening day play is followed with cocktails and appetizers and a light dinner in the beautiful Bar-N. President Kathy Boselli officiated a brief meeting and welcomed all members, both returning gals and many new players.
We all look forward to a fabulous 2018 season for the Waukewan Ladies League!
