To The Daily Sun,

Steven Dionne's latest letter seems to imply that somehow I stopped doing my job as a representative because I don't constantly badger my fellow representatives over the Gunstock ski resort or legal bills.

Mr. Dionne has clearly never represented a city of nearly 17,000 or a state of 1.3 million.

Contrary to popular belief there are much more important things going on right here at home that carry importance, like homelessness, drug abuse, property crime and a woefully underperforming and damaged school system.

These are the things I care about.

These are the things that keep Laconia from being a truly great place to live.

I continue to see letters that badger and beat down representatives in leadership positions in Belknap County, but never see anything about our toxic school district, $400,000 condominiums popping up while the homeless continue to suffer or drug dealing and other crimes that plague my beloved city and home.

It begs the question: When is the opposition to Republican leadership going to start writing letters about things that really matter?

Lord knows there is a lot more to talk about than legal bills that nobody could have known would be higher than the original appropriation limit.

The country is in trouble. Germany had to send baby formula. Nuclear powers are threatening us every day. Gas prices are through the roof. Schools are unsafe. Need I say more?

Rep. Richard Littlefield
