WOLFEBORO — A Tuftonboro man was charged drunken driving Monday evening after police responded to a report of a crash and found a car in the woods.
According to Wolfeboro police, Clayton Traversie, 29, of Tuftonboro, was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated on Pine Hill Road, near the Wolfeboro-Tuftonboro town line.
A patrol officer was sent to that area after police received a report of a motor vehicle accident. Fenton suspected Traversie was under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and the officer conducted at field sobriety test. Traversie refused to submit to tests to determine the level of intoxication. An open container of alcoholic beverage was found in the car, police said.
Traversie was taken to the Carroll County Jail. He is scheduled to appear in Third Circuit Court-District Division-Ossipee on Sept. 12.
