The House Transportation Committee will hold pubic hearings on two bills, one that would require motorcyclists to wear helmets (House Bill 1261) and another that would limit motorcycle noise (House Bill 1162), in Representatives Hall at the State House on Thursday, January 28, beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Representative Judith Day (D-North Hampton) sponsored both bills.

Last year the House rejected similar legislation to restrict motorcycle noise on the unanimous recommendation of the Transportation Committee. Since 1989, the House has soundly rejected five bills requiring the wearing of helmets, most recently in 2000.
