GILFORD — The Gilford High School volleyball team outlasted Oyster River 3-2 Saturday night as senior captain Brooke Beaudet hammered down 21 kills, half the team’s 42 total, to help Gilford punch their ticket into the final four.

The top-ranked Golden Eagles (15-2) will play fifth ranked Portsmouth tonight at 7 p.m. at Pinkerton Academy. Second-ranked Milford plays third-ranked Windham at 5 p.m.

This is Gilford’s 24th year in a row making a semi-final appearance and 29th overall. Set scores were 25-15, 25-15, 12-25, 22-25, 15-9

Gilford has been in a fifth set three times this year and knows the importance of jumping out to an early lead. They did exactly that. Brooke Beaudet put down kills for points 2, 4 and 5, Maggie McNeil served an ace for point 3, Karly Sanborn served an ace for point 6 and Abby O’Connor had a kill for point 7 to give Gilford a quick 7-3 lead. Maggie McNeil added kills for points 9 and 11 which was enough to secure the 15-9 win and a trip back to Pinkerton Academy.
