Labor Day fun run to Castle in the Clouds

For those who enjoy exercise and fresh mountain air, the annual Castle in the Clouds Labor Day Fun Run and Walk is coming up on Monday, Sept. 2 at 8 a.m. The 2.3-mile route is shorter than a traditional 5k, but it is all uphill. Runners and walkers will begin at the Lower Gatehouse, and wind along Shannon Brook, meandering through the shade of maples and oaks, past the Carriage House and up the trolley road to the finish line on the Castle lawn. Medals will be awarded for first, second and third place winners in the male and female categories. The fun run is sponsored by Aubuchon Hardware-Moultonborough. On Labor Day, participants should use the 586 Ossipee Park Road entrance and park in the visitor parking lot by 7:30 a.m. for packet pick up and registration. At 7:45 a.m., a Castle trolley will transport runners and walkers from the parking lot to the starting line. Registration is available by visiting castleintheclouds.org, calling 603-476-5410, and on the morning of the event. Proceeds support the Castle’s mission to preserve, interpret and share the historic Lucknow Estate. (Courtesy photo)
