MEREDITH — Donald H. Burrows, 91, passed away on Nov. 12, 2017, at Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia.

Donald was born on Sept. 9, 1926, in Rumney, the son of Nathaniel and Edrie (Gordon) Burrows.

Donald lived in Sandwich, attending Quimby School. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1943, proudly servicing his country in the South Pacific and later in Nagasaki, Japan.

After leaving the Marine Corps in 1946, he returned home to Sandwich, to start work and raising a family. He married Ramona and they had two children, Donna and Dana.

Donald enjoyed spending time with family, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a longtime member of the Laconia Country Club.

Donald is survived by his two children, Donna Ryan of Center Harbor, and Dana Burrows of Louisville, Kentucky; his sister, Isabelle Sinclair; brothers, Leslie and Bruce; three grandchildren, Patrick and his wife Lisa of Springfield, Virginia, Kirstan and husband Andrew Jones of Cleveland, and Jessica Burrows of Kentucky; one great-grandson, Christopher Ryan of Springfield, Virginia; and many nieces and nephews.

Donald was predeceased by his wife, Ramona; his parents; two brothers, Charles and Robert; and his sister Pauline Peaslee.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.

Donations can be made to Sandwich Recreation, Wounded Warriors or Disabled Veterans.
