Winni Players welcomes area performers to audition

Audition dates have been set for the Winni Players November production of the Eugene O’Neill Pulitzer Prize-winning 'Long Day’s Journey Into Night,' and area actors are invited to attend. There are two audition sessions scheduled to be held at The Studio at Meredith Bay. Auditioners may choose either Sunday, Aug. 18, at 4 p.m., or Tuesday, Aug. 20, at 6:30 p.m. 'Long Day’s Journey Into Night' is an autobiographical journey into the life of an America writer and offers a stark view of family as a negative spiral of accusation, blame, and resentment. The dysfunction is driven by the mother's addiction to morphine, the family's addiction to whiskey, the father's miserliness, the older brother's promiscuity, and younger brother's illness, all revealed by their interactions on one single day. Deborah Osborne will direct the dark but compelling drama, and the auditions will cast four roles. Mary, mid-50s wife and mother of the family; James Tyrone, Jr., early 30s elder son; Edmund Tyrone, younger brother, early 20s; and Cathleen, early 20s summer maid. Rehearsals begin Sept. 3, and the show goes up Nov. 7-10 at the Winnipesaukee Playhouse. For more information, visit www.winnipesaukeeplayhouse.org. (Courtesy photo)
