New Hampton Historical Society’s April 16 program to feature Jordan Tirrell-Wysocki

The New Hampton Historical Society’s April program will take place Tuesday, April 16, at 7 p.m. at Gordon-Nash Library. The program, Songs of Emigration-Storytelling through Traditional Irish Music, will be presented by Jordan Tirrell-Wysocki. He will relay some of the adventures, misadventures, and emotions experienced by Irish emigrants. The focus is on songs about leaving Ireland, sometimes focusing on the reasons for leaving, sometimes revealing what happened upon arrival, and sometimes exploring the feeling of homesickness. Tirrell-Wysocki will discuss the historical context of these songs, along with tunes from Ireland that made their way into New England’s musical repertoire, played on his fiddle or guitar. The program is sponsored by New Hampshire Humanities. All New Hampton Historical Society programs are free and open to the public.  Light refreshments will be served. (Courtesy photo)
