Meredith time capsule to be buried July 4

Thursday, July 4, at 1 p.m. on the Meredith Public Library lawn, 91 Main St., the 2018 time capsule will be buried as the final event of the Meredith 250th Celebration. The capsule is scheduled to be opened in 2068. Last year, nearly 300 people joined as the 50-year time capsule from 1968 was opened. Many had been present when it was buried on July 4, 1969. Throughout 2018, the Time Capsule Committee collected items from the community to place in the capsule. Everyone present at the brief ceremony will receive a small item to commemorate the occasion. Cookies, cupcakes and lemonade will be served. Committee members, pictured with the 2018 time capsule are, from left, Linda Hough, Judy Dever, Jonathan James, Erin Apostolos, Betty Strader, and Karen Thorndike. (Courtesy photo)
