ASHLAND — Got Lunch - Ashland & Holderness completed its 13th summer of providing bags of healthy lunch foods during the weeks of summer vacation. This summer the program served 66 children from 38 families.

In 2012, its first year, it served 50 children from 21 families in Ashland. In 2013 with Holderness added it served 56 children from 26 families. Each year numbers remained between 55 and 65. Got Lunch has also provided grocery bags or vouchers for the mid-winter and spring school breaks.

A faithful cadre of volunteers have been involved over the years to plan menus, purchase food supplies, pack the bags, and make deliveries.

Got Lunch is supported financially by community individuals, businesses, and organizations. It has also receives grants from the Greater Lakes Region Children’s Auction, Meredith Village Savings Bank, New Hampshire Electric Co-op, Speare Memorial Hospital, Morning Buzz Lend a Helping Can, and New Hampshire Charitable Trust Foundation.

The program is managed by a six-person board, most of whom have been with the program since its inception. This board is grateful to all those who have made this program possible, including American Legion Post 15 for use of their hall for storage and packing and Belletetes of Ashland for use of their conference room for Board meetings.
