To The Daily Sun,
State Rep. Don Flanders was a good friend of mine and a friend to so many in Laconia. It was so sad when he passed away last September after 17 years representing the residents and city of Laconia. Now, Laconia residents have an opportunity to fill that seat with a person who will carry on Don’s legacy at a Special Election on Feb. 27.
Republican Les Cartier, an Air Force Vietnam veteran, worked more than 30 years in the state Fire Marshal’s office as its hazardous materials expert. He has more than 40 years as a fire, EMS, and law enforcement first responder. And, while doing all that, he’s been a small-business owner for 32 years. And, so importantly with the opioid crisis here in New Hampshire, Les developed the Emergency Service Clandestine Drug and Drug Labs Awareness programs for New Hampshire and also served on the Governor’s Task Force on Methamphetamine Abuse.
