Shaker District teachers are not the highest paid in the state

  • Published in Letters

To The Daily Sun,

In response to a Letter to the Editor that appeared in The Daily Sun on Feb. 28 concerning the salaries of Shaker District school teachers. I'm not quite sure where the author of this letter got his information, but in fact, Shaker School District teachers are not the highest paid in the state. However, they have a 188-day contract that is the longest in the state. As residents who support the Shaker School District, we have to ask ourselves how important are our children's education? We must ensure that this school district hires and retains the highest qualified teachers available.

We must ask ourselves, "Would we want our homes built by highly qualified builders or substandard builders." As residents we must ensure the future of our students.
