A crew from Spears Brothers Building Salvage & Wrecking of Belmont demolishes the showroom at Thurston's Marina, making way for a new sales floor, which will complete the renovation of the marina. Thurston's has invested more than $2 million in new facilities on its 8.5 acre property along the Weirs Channel. Don Thurston said that the project includes six new buildings that together expand and enhance the firm's sales, service and storage departments.

Peters given Vaughan Award

Lakes Region broadcast legend Esther Peters received the 2004 Joseph D. Vaughan Award for Belknap County in a ceremony yesterday at the State House. The award recognizes outstanding volunteer leadership and initiative among senior citizens on behalf of the elderly. Adult Day Health Center to be operated by Easter Seals NH

Its existence threatened by the financial belt-tightening underway at LRGHealthcare, The Adult Day Health Center in Laconia has been rescued by Easter Seals New Hampshire.
