P.K. zyla

Police are investigating a Wednesday night break-in at P.K. Zyla's Texaco Station on Weirs Boulevard. A person or persons unknown entered the store after smashing the glass door at the front of the building, but failed in the effort to open the cash register. Anyone with information about this incident should call the Laconia Police department at 524-5252 or the Greater Laconia Crimeline at 524-1717.

Elementary and middle school spending plan gets nod from budget committee

The elementary and middle school portions of the school district's 2004-2005 budget received preliminary approval by a unanimous vote of the Gilford Budget Committee last evening. The Police Department has brought itself to full strength by hiring three new officers who were sworn in at the Police Commission meeting yesterday. Benjamin Black, Joseph Marquis and Edward Alterisio were chosen from among 50 applicants for the three open positions.
